here is a recount about camp.

Camp 2010

On the 3rd of May 2010, it was camp for students in Syndicate D and Room 28. The camp was in Motutapu Island. An Island which is next to Rangitoto Island. And that's where we’re going to stay.

So on Monday morning, I went to half moon bay. Where I got my luggage and prepared to board the ferry. After everyone came to half moon bay, we boarded the ferry. The ride was cool, because the parents shot at us water balloons. When we arrived at Rangitoto Island, we had a group photo. My group consisted of Michael, Jason, Kyle G, Dion, Crystal, Sonna, Krishna and me, and our group parent was Mr Glogoski who is Kyle’s dad. After the photo’s we started our hike which was 6.5 km. Once we cross the little bridge which separated Rangitoto from Motutapu, we had morning tea. After morning tea we continued our walk to camp. When we got to camp, I slumped down on a bench and ate lunch.

After lunch we had our first activity, mine was sailing so I got changed into my togs and headed down to the beach. Sailing was fun, I came first both times and never capsized. After sailing we had afternoon tea which was cookies. Then we had our second activity. My second activity was raft building. Our raft was good at the start and the other team’s raft started to fall apart. Then eventually ours fell apart too. After raft building we hit the showers and prepared for dinner. Dinner is served, Nachos for dinner and chocolate fudge. Yummy! So after dinner we got ready for our night activity.

Once I got ready we waited to go to the hall, because my group was doing hall activities. Hall activities was pretty fun, we played lots games. After night activities we had a cookie and milo and we did diary writing. After all that we went to bed.

Day2

After we woke up and ate breakfast we got told our first activity. Mine was Rock wall it was okay but that's because I wasn’t a very good climber. Then we had morning tea then head on to the activity which was confidence course. Confidence course is all about teamwork, it was good fun! After the confidence course we had lunch which was luncheon meat with bread, salad and coleslaw. After lunch it was kayaking we played games in our kayaks one of the games was kayak soccer that was fun! After afternoon tea we had our last activity which was high ropes. High ropes were fun because you get to walk across wires and wooden beams 10 metres high, but with a harness of course. After high ropes we prepared for dinner. Dinner was sticky chicken yummy… After dinner we got ready for our night activity.

My night activity that night was spotlight, I hid everywhere but I still get caught. Strange… After spotlight we had supper and diary writing then we went to bed.

Day3

After the usual routine of breakfast we had our first activity, I had gun walk it was pretty cool first you got to see a documentary about Motutapu Island then you go on a walk where you get to see the barracks. After the hike we had morning tea then our second activity. Which was Archery It was the meanest, because it was the first time I did Archery. And I was the second best out of two groups. After lunch which was hot dogs we had survival course it was very fun because you get very muddy I was muddy from waist and below. After I got cleaned I had orienteering. I got 8 clues out of 12 clues which were pretty good. Then we had dinner which was spaghetti Bolognese and it was very good. After dinner we got ready for our night activity. Mine was Burma Trail, so Mr Crowhurst told us the story of Johnny Burma which was cool then got sent off in our group into the Burma trail. The Burma trail wasn’t scary at all A parent even squished me into a tree when he tripped while jumping out to scare us. So after the Burma trail we had supper and diary writing then it was off to bed.

Day4

After breakfast we prepared for our electives that we chose. I chose snorkeling, kayaking and Archery. I had snorkeling first so I got changed into my togs and went into two wetsuits. Even then I was still cold in the water, but after awhile I got use to it and saw lots of fish I saw a very big snapper too. After snorkeling we had morning tea and then we our next activity, mine was kayaking. The sea was very rough so my arms were exhausted after kayaking. After kayaking I had lunch which was macaroni and cheese. After lunch I had Archery it was pretty cool though my arms were pretty tired. After Archery I played basketball and prepared for dinner. Dinner was roast beef with peas and baked potato. After dinner we waited for the camp concert, when it began it was pretty cool. There were lots of comedy shows which were very funny. After the camp concert we had supper and went to bed.

Day5

Today in the morning I packed my bags first then went to breakfast. After my big bag was in the truck, we got ready to start our 6.5 km walk back to Rangitoto Island. So we began our walk, I was walking with my friend Ian. And we were talking the whole way through the walk. When we did get to Rangitoto Island we boarded the ferry and went off to Half Moon Bay. Where I got picked up back to my home.

So overall camp is something you don’t want to miss, because it was awesome! And camp is a place where you can have fun with your friends and become more fit. And plus you might be able to make some new friends.
